Hormones and doping
Over the last years, the hormones have come occupying an ample space within the
sports sciences, physical culture and biomedical control of sports training. Actually,
the hormones have become an essential weapon for sports sciences and within its
main applications.
This study presents an actualization about the theme of hormones and
sports, the research lines related with this aspect, at the Sport Medicine Institute
and provide besides a hypothesis about the possible utilization of prolactin in
doping practice.
In my opinion, the use of peptidic or anabolic hormones for the improvement of sports performance is a very dangerous practice for the health of the athlete and more even for people who are not elite athletes and are administered without any type of medical control. On the other hand, it seems to me well that this very persecuted and constant anti-doping controls are carried out by the world organizations as it provides an unfair advantage to the athletes who consume such drugs.
