Tomasz Zielinski
Tomasz Zielinski was the European Champion 2015 in the category of minus 94 kg and runner-up in 2014. In addition, he was considered as one of the favorites to climb to the podium in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
The tests carried out by the organizing committee of the Olympic Games have revealed that the blood of the weightlifter had a prohibited substance: nandrolone steroids. It is the first victim of the tests carried out in the Olympic Village, when the enclosure opened its doors to the athletes. The idea of the International Olympic Committee was to conduct 5,500 tests during the Olympic Games, and one of them went to the Pole.
"I want to sincerely apologize to all the Poles who feel ashamed," said Szymon Kolecki, director of the Polish weightlifting federation.
