Ángel Rodríguez
Ángel Rodríguez began competing in the Spanish championship of minibikes
at age ten and was the champion in his first year. He was able to retain the
title in the following two seasons and in 1998 disputed the Aprilia Cup and the
championship of Spain of 125 cc.
The Spanish Motorcycling Federation (RFME) reported that the pilot tested positive in an anti-doping test during the Spanish Speed
Championship (CEV), held in 2009 at the Albacete circuit. The second test was
also positive. The RFME did not want to clarify the type of substance consumed
by the pilot.
In a sport where physical resistance is not decisive in obtaining
optimum results, where victories are based on the mastery and technical
solvency of the rider and his motorcycle, it is unusual for a rider to resort
to doping. Strange, more when a case of doping is made public but the illegal
substance is not provided.
