Marion Jones
American athlete of the late 90's at the end of 2000. She consumed the synthetic steroid THG.
In Sydney 2000 she managed to be the fastest woman in the world, achieving, among other medals, three golds (100 m, 200 m and 4x400m). In 2007 she confessed to having doped, lied in the investigations of the American Anti-Doping Agency and lied in the fraud case of the BALCO scandal (name of one laboratory). The judge sentenced her to six months 'imprisonment and two months' imprisonment. It was dispossessed of all its medals, only three golds and a bronze remain in force in Athletics World Championships of Athens 97 and Seville 99.
The World Anti-Doping Agency admitted that this was the fall of a heroine for society, especially for the United States of America. She assured in an interview with Oprah Winfrey (as well as Lance Amstrong) that she had won the golds he achieved at Sydney without the need to dope. Then, collapsed, the media admitted earlier:
"With great shame, I am in front of you to tell you that I have betrayed your trust, I disappointed my family, I disappointed my country and I was disappointed in myself, I beg your pardon for my actions and I hope that in your hearts you will do it"
She currently offers motivational talks within a program called Take a Break, in which she encourages young people to make right decisions in their life or to try to reverse the effects of their wrong decisions.
